What to do in Santiago in November

The wettest month of the year in Santiago: umbrella or rain jacket, no exceptions.

November is the wettest month of the year in Santiago, no argument, so the rain jacket stops being optional. The cultural compensation is the Cineuropa festival, which turns the Teatro Principal, the Salón Teatro, NUMAX and the Auditorio de Galicia into a standing European cinema, with a good share of the screenings free or very cheap.

The rest of the month runs on indoor plans — the Museo do Pobo Galego, the CGAC, the cathedral museum, a coffee under the arcades of Rúa do Vilar — and on falling room rates, in one of the quietest seasons of the year. If you get rain, it is not bad luck: it is November in Santiago, where rain is a tradition rather than a setback.
