July is the driest and hottest month of the year in Santiago, around 19-23 °C on average, and also one of the fullest: this is where the Fiestas del Apóstol fall, the city's great patronal festival, from 22 to 31 July, with 25 July as St James's Day and the National Day of Galicia. The most photographed moment of the year is the Fuegos del Apóstol, the fireworks launched on two nights — the 24th and the 31st, from 23:30 — simultaneously from the Alameda, the Cidade da Cultura and the Parque de Carlomagno.

If your trip coincides with these dates, book very far ahead and accept that the old town will be packed, above all on the firework nights. In exchange, it is the month when the city lives its most solemn and most crowded celebration at once, something that happens at no other point in the year.

What happens in July

Fiestas del Apóstol (The last ten days of July (2026: 22 to 31)). The great patronal festival, with 25 July as St James's Day.
