Sigüeiro → Santiago

The Xunta's waymarking measures this last stage at 16.1 km, a little more than the 15.7 km most guides add up, but either way it is the shortest day with the least climbing of the five. It is also the last night before the Cathedral, so it is worth enjoying without hurry and being clear about how many nights you will stay in Santiago when you finish.

The route, village by village

You leave Sigüeiro and cross several small hamlets — Marantes, A Sionlla — between kilometre 1 and 4, with no services. The first useful stop comes at Formarís (8.5 km), with a hotel café beside the route. From there the landscape starts to change: at the Tambre industrial estate (around 11 km), with a bar-restaurant, the urban stretch begins and does not let up until the end. Then O Meixonfrío (12.5 km) and, already in the old town, the arrival at the Praza do Obradoiro (15.7 km).

On arrival: the Pilgrim's Office

The Pilgrim's Reception Office is at Rúa das Carretas 33, open every day from 9:00 to 19:00. It works with a QR-coded ticket that gives you your place in the queue; you should have the credential stamped at least twice a day over these last 100 km, with the final stamp of the stage already in Santiago. For that first night in the city, especially if you arrive late in the day, it is worth having accommodation in the old town booked ahead. With that in order, the Compostela is one formality away.
