# What to do in Santiago in July

Month by month

The driest and hottest month of the year, and the fullest: the city's big festival falls here.

July is the driest and hottest month of the year in Santiago, around 19-23 °C on average, and also one of the fullest: this is where the Fiestas del Apóstol fall, the city's great patronal festival, from 22 to 31 July, with 25 July as St James's Day and the National Day of Galicia. The most photographed moment of the year is the Fuegos del Apóstol, the fireworks launched on two nights — the 24th and the 31st, from 23:30 — simultaneously from the Alameda, the Cidade da Cultura and the Parque de Carlomagno.

If your trip coincides with these dates, book very far ahead and accept that the old town will be packed, above all on the firework nights. In exchange, it is the month when the city lives its most solemn and most crowded celebration at once, something that happens at no other point in the year.

## What happens in July

**Fiestas del Apóstol** (The last ten days of July (2026: 22 to 31)). The great patronal festival, with 25 July as St James's Day. In 2026 it ran from 22 to 31 July, with the Fuegos del Apóstol on the 24th and the 31st at 23:30 from the Alameda, the Cidade da Cultura and the Parque de Carlomagno. The 2027 edition is already the first of the Holy Year: the programme comes out in June.

## Things to do in July

- See the Fuegos del Apóstol: arrive early, the old town fills completely on those nights
- Experience 25 July, the National Day of Galicia, with the offering to the Apostle and the year's most solemn atmosphere
- Book accommodation very far ahead if your trip coincides with these dates
- Look for shade: it is the hottest month, though nothing like the Spanish interior
