Hours and prices are verified against official sources at the time of writing; Galician museums change their schedules between high and low season, so double-check before building your day around a specific visit. 2026 notice: Mass has NOT been moved A notice still circulating online says Mass is held at San Francisco and San Fiz de Solovio. It dates from **2019**and no longer applies. All four pilgrim's Masses are celebrated at the **High Altar**, at 7:30 am, 9:30 am, 12:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Of the 2026 works, the Berenguela clock tower and the chapel roofs are exterior and do not affect your visit; the cimborrio restoration does, and its scaffolding has kept the [botafumeiro grounded since 24 August](https://santiago.es/en/what-to-see/botafumeiro), with no return date — the Cathedral confirmed as much in writing on 5 September 2026. Full details are in [the Cathedral guide](https://santiago.es/en/what-to-see/cathedral). ## What to book ahead Two Cathedral experiences have limited capacity and are worth sorting out before you reach Santiago, especially at weekends, on long holiday weekends, or in summer: - **Pórtico de la Gloria**: with an audio guide it's included in the paid ticket (€15 / €12); free, unguided access is limited to invitations handed out Tuesday to Saturday from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm, which must be requested up to 7 days in advance. - **Cathedral rooftops**: a guided tour across the roofs in small groups; slots sell out fast in high season. Book at [visitas.catedraldesantiago.es](https://santiago.es/en/what-to-see/cathedral). None of the other monuments in this table require booking, except on very specific dates (Holy Week, [the Feast of the Apostle celebrations](https://santiago.es/en/events) at the end of July), when it's worth allowing a bit more time than usual. ## Frequently asked questions **Which monuments in Santiago are free?** Access to the Cathedral naves, the CGAC, the Cidade da Cultura exhibitions, and the Museo do Pobo Galego on Sundays. The Mercado de Abastos is also free to enter. **What's closed on Mondays?** The Museo do Pobo Galego and the CGAC close on Mondays. The Cathedral, the Cathedral Museum, San Martiño Pinario, the Colegiata de Sar and the Cidade da Cultura open as usual. **Do any opening hours change in summer?** Yes — San Martiño Pinario extends its hours to 10:00 am–8:00 pm between June and October (versus 11:00 am–7:00 pm the rest of the year), and the Cathedral closes a little earlier on summer Saturdays for the pilgrim vigil. **Are these prices guaranteed?** They're indicative and verified against official sources at the time this guide was published, but museums update their rates from time to time.
